| What about my accountant?
An accounting system is not a replacement for your accountant: unless you have the time, energy and knowledge to do it yourself, you will probably still need your accountants advice on issues like tax, compliance and of course end of year reporting. For this reason it is important that your in-house accounting system produce information in a format that your accountant can use. MoneyWorks fulfills this by: - providing a complete set of financial and accounting reports (these can be saved as Excel or Text files and emailed to your accountant);
- providing transaction export formats to the main accounting practice management systems (these are special systems that accountants use for producing accounts; they are very different from other systems);
- providing a free support copy of MoneyWorks to your accountant, so they can access your actual data
But remember, you or your staff will be using the accounting system every day; your accountant once every few months or just once a year. In other words your system must work for your business, but with your accountant. So the top priority is that the system meets your everyday needs you don't need to use the same system as your accountant (after all, they run an entirely different type of business than yours).
